We're off...

Going on a little holiday. Just me and the three billy goats. My neighbour's daughter (from back home) is getting married, so we're heading out. Can't wait to get there - though I'm a little worried about the getting there bit. Aidan is an unpredictable traveller these days. Either he's happy as a clam and chatters in his sweet way. Or, he's screaming like a Banshee. I'm crossing my fingers and toes for a smooth, trouble-free flight.

Anyhow - I won't be blogging much (if at all), as I won't have easy access to a computer. Maybe that's a good thing, though I will miss my daily browse through the blogosphere to see what every one's doing. I'll look forward to reading about every one's adventures when I get back.

Wish us luck!

My latest attempt at being creative....

Penelope Flew
By Carol N

Penelope flew on a flying fish,
Around the world and back again.
She wrote it all down
With a golden pen,
Then presented her tale to a Pelican.

The Pelican said, “How do you do?”
He ate the pen and Penelope too.
He ate the fish , then off he flew,
Around the world and back again.
Note: it is my intention that the pelican didn't really eat her - just took her for another ride. Not sure if the picture is scary or if that is clear.

Nothing Gold can Stay...

Such a lovely couple of days. We attended Variety's Boat for Hope and had such an amazing time. The Navy, Coastguard, Fire/Rescue, etc. hosted a day of incredible fun for kids with special needs and their families. I'm planning to write more about the event when I have photos ready to post.

Then, today we had Kieran's First Communion and Confirmation. Kieran looked so grown up standing in front of the church. He was quite serious through the whole event, but after he took a sip of the wine, he made such a hilarious face. He didn't mean to, but his whole body kind of shook like he'd just tasted Buckley's Cough Syrup. Later he said, the wine MADE me do that! Liam found that quite funny.

In the afternoon, to celebrate our new and wonderful life here on the coast, we went to the ocean. Aidan loved playing in the sand. At one point he was lying flat on his belly making sand angels. Kieran played football with James, and Liam ran between the play structures and the water (much like a puppy, that boy). I dreamed that I could be in one of the lovely sail boats writing a story, and then we had to get back home for supper and baths and bed.

Such a perfect day. A perfect weekend. One of those, "I'm grateful to be alive" times in life that bring such great and profound joy.

But, nothing gold can stay... now Aidan is coughing up a storm, and it's beginning to sound a lot like croup. Will be spending the next while monitoring to see if it's bad enough to go to Emergency. He's resting now after being steamed and having a long cuddle and an inhaler, hopefully it won't be a bad spell.

Steps

Yes - Aidan is taking steps on his own! He has taken up to 16 tiny little baby steps that moved him about 3 feet in total. He is so proud! His brothers have been cheering him on and are excited for him too.

I have to get the camera out tomorrow to catch him in the act. I probably should have waited until then to post - but I wanted to shout it from the mountaintops.

Curse me and my spontaneous moments!!

Today was amazing. A morning playdate with another family that went well. After lunch, Liam was off to Kindergarten and Aidan and I decided to go for a drive to the wharf.

It was a beautiful day - the sky was amazing with clouds that begged to be painted. But it was sunny and warm too. Lots of people were out enjoying the spirit of Spring. They were friendly to one another, it was the kind of day where you just knew that nothing bad could happen.

Aidan and I walked along the wharf, admiring the floating houses. Wishing we could buy one of the three that were for sale. What for? Well, admitedly, not to live on it. I've just always wanted a place like that to escape to. A writer's studio of sorts. If I win the lottery, that might be on my to do list.

We discovered two seals that make their home at the wharf. You can buy fish to feed them. They actually jump out of the water if you hold the fish up for them. Aidan was thrilled. The seal looked at him with such a beautiful look, I was giddy with joy.

Giddy, and without a camera. Curse these spontaneous adventures where I'm unprepared to capture the beauty of the day. But, thankfully Creative Commons Search saved the day - and I borrowed some graphics, legally (I think).
